Flaming Prairie Makeover - September 26, 2009
Over 40 people
helped with the conservation board's third "Extreme Makeover" event. The day was
a great success and even Mother Nature helped out by holding off on the rain.

Part of the makeover day crew 18 tons of sand and pea gravel have to be moved Sand and gravel are hauled to the playground & trail Fall protection for this tree that will be cut to a stump Getting the new hill ready to seed grass Getting started on the brush cutting Pulling out one of the many grapevines Grandma and grandson work together on cutting brush The view opens as the pile grows! Poles are treated at the bottom before they go in Cable and PVC get strung through the poles Playground, parking lot and piles of sand Lunch prepared & served by volunteers was a welcome break A trail to the marsh is put in place A great blue heron keeps an eye on the makeover activities Rocks were hauled into the area before the makeover started Smaller rocks were moved into place as "steps" to the boulders Rough edges on the play logs were sanded down Taking a break in the new playground during lunch A few more stumps are added Lots of stumps waiting to be placed The spiral starts filling in
